Harvesting Your Potentials

Breaking Down Barriers to Success with Hypnosis

Each of us has goals in life, things that are very important for us to have or experience. These goals peak our interest whether it be education, sports, business, career, relationships, or anything else that best fits you. These are the things that provide meaning and purpose to our lives. Many times, however, you may feel like those goals are completely out of reach for you to attain. Maybe you have low self-confidence, maybe you have negative people around you that only try to make you feel that your goals are either ridiculous or unachievable, maybe you just have accepted defeat for so long that it has become ingrained in your personality or maybe you just need to find the right information, person, group, or service to better guide you in attaining your goal. In all of these cases, hypnosis can help you to overcome and break down your barriers to success.

In many instances, those people who have low self-confidence, all that is needed is learning, guidance, encouragement, and actually doing what they are setting out to do. Many times people defeat themselves before they even get the process started. They will find themselves setting goals and talking a lot about what they would like to do, but when it comes to the actual doing aspect - they either completely back off or consciously or unconsciously set themselves up for failure. They may engage in negative self-defeating inner dialogue with themselves, telling themselves that they can't do it or never have done it before. In this case fear is what is holding them back. Their fear or fears may be known or unknown to them and may stem from a variety of different past conversations, people, situations, or emotions that may have been particularly negative in nature.

The people around us can also make a difference. When you are surrounded by skeptics, pessimists, or people who just discourage any new ideas as well as your aspirations - it can have an impact on your attitude. Some people do it intentionally by telling you your ideas are ridiculous, impossible or just unachievable because of some reason that is based purely on their opinion. Many times these are the very same people who truly know absolutely nothing about the topic, but are repeating what they heard from someone else. On another note, maybe your choice of goals has some type of impact on them in some way, directly or indirectly, that motivates them to be negative and discouraging concerning your goal. Hypnosis can help you to focus on yourself, your goal, and the positive steps that you are taking or need to be taking to achieve your goal. It's easy to become too wrapped up in other peoples' opinions and lose sight of your original goal.

In other circumstances, many people just accept defeat without any fight. They just accept their low self-confidence, they accept that others have told them their goals are unachievable, and they allow their personality to become frozen with a label of defeat. This label stays with them and can affect the way they think, the way they feel, and the way they act. It prevents them from reaching the achievement stage in relation to their goal. They may entertain thoughts, ideas, and dreams of what they would like, but the energy of their intentions are weakened by the label of self-defeat they have accepted.

Acceptance is good when you are acknowledging that a problem is present, or that a goal may be truly unreasonable or unrealistic given the circumstances of that situation. When this occurs, it is meant to be a cue to move on or consider other options that are more suitable. In this case, accept - but allow your self to learn and progress. In times of denial, whatever the circumstances, recognize and accept that you may be in denial, but make a plan to deal with the issues and move on. Too many times acceptance can be an excuse for self-defeat and a choice for inaction. And too many times people are told to "accept" something without realizing what to do afterward. Often in these examples the person is left psychologically imprisoned feeling as if their options are limited. An example of this would be a doctor telling a person they only have a certain time left to live and they better just accept it. How many times have you heard about or seen people who chose not to accept it, and lived on to prove the doctors wrong? Another example occurs when people have been told to accept their life as it is? If that person is unhappy with their life already, then how do you suppose that makes them feel? The result of this kind of acceptance ends up being the opposite of encouragement. The person may end up forever accepting that they can do nothing about achieving their goal. It gets rationalized by saying, "I can't do this because I'm ....." Hypnosis can help to build a person's inner strengths and help them to focus on what is important to their mind, body, and spiritual health. Hypnosis helps people put their thoughts and ideas into action through stress reduction, stimulating creativity and confidence building.

Many people with low self-confidence use the words "hope" and "try". These two words are brother and sister - they both presuppose doubt. The word "hope" can be a big smokescreen that shadows true feelings of worry. A person may say, "I hope I will be able to do alright." Clearly there is some concern that something will cause interference. The word "try" is similar in that it usually indicates a sense of uncertainty based on some underlying worry. It also implies that action is not really going to happen. How do you "try" to do something? If a person is only setting out to try, then they are not intending to actually do. Hypnosis helps a person to get past these types of words through suggestions of assertiveness and an emphasis on utilizing more direct action-oriented language. Remember what you say, has an effect on your subconscious mind. If you are constantly speaking with empty words such as "hope" and "try", then you may be creating barriers to accomplishing your goals without even realizing it.

Finally, a person may just need to find the right information, person, group, or service to help you in accomplishing your goals. Sometimes all that is needed is extra motivation, enthusiasm, and increased optimism to get you started exploring the alternatives.

Everyone has the power to achieve goals, but first it's often necessary to "harvest your potentials" through education, self-improvement, and an optimistic outlook. It's important to remember that a good harvest requires patience and proper care.
